Hot and Dry Locations Many of the following plants will grow well in dry soils. Most can tolerate extreme heat in dry conditions, although all plants will benefit from watering during long dry spells. Usually plants will go into dormancy or stop flowering when moisture levels get too low, and will return to flowering once adequate moisture levels are reached. Mulching the soil around your plants will greatly improve
moisture levels and plant performance. You will
notice many of these selections can only grow in shade
or part shade. These are good choices for close
to house foundations, or around the base of trees, where
it is always dry.
